Second doctor appointment

Heart beats

I got to hear the baby’s heartbeat today!  At only 9 ½ weeks along, I was able to hear the heartbeat, and with that the chances of miscarriage decrease to less than 1%.  I love that thumping sound, so comforting…175 beats strong!  I also talked with the midwife today about my options for delivery.  With my daughter, Alex, I ended up with a C-Section after being induced, allergic to the induction drug (well, cord that held the drug in place), and a bad reaction with pitocin.  As long as I go into labor on my own, I can deliver this baby via a VBAC (virginal bath after cesarean).  Midwife encouraged me to keep working out as I am.  I also talked to my dear friend Dr. Stacia Kelly (also a co-author of our book) about the whole hypno-birthing process, and will keep an open mind.

Nausea, supplements and working out – Trimester 1

Working out:

Ok, this time around I said let’s just go for it, and try and keep all of my physical activity in there, and slow down as I go.  The week I found out I was pregnant, I also found out that a BodyStep morning class was available if I wanted to take over teaching…and I have been waiting for a class at 9am to make it easy on both Alex and I.  I am happy to say, even though I feel nauseous the working out makes me feel better, and I am still doing the class full out, in addition to my weight training, AND teaching my abs and back classes!  My mommies’ in the Boot Camp for Moms keep talking about baby #2.  Yesterday they were asking when we were going to start trying, and if I thought it would be hard the second time around getting pregnant?  Hmmm…keeping my little secret a bit longer!

Supplements/Diet:

I love my Max Muscle Supplements.  Currently the Nutraceutical ginger is a life saver.  Instead of sucking on ginger lollipops or drinking ginger-ale I take one every morning with my prenatal and Omega 3 Plus (also from Max Muscle), and I feel “LESS” sick.  Not sure any morning the nausea has gone away.  Currently I have crackers by my bed that I eat a couple of before getting out of bed, then I eat breakfast – Triple Whey Protein Powder (Max Muscle) mixed with water and glutamine and, either an english muffin or thin bagel.  This holds me over until my workout is done and then I drink the Iso-Extreme Orange Protein powder with XTR (both Max Muscle).  Sad to say, that is about the extent of my protein for the day, after about 1pm my body pretty much rejects protein.  So…I am living on carbs again this time around!  I can’t wait until I can add the protein back in! – prenatal, triple whey, iso-extreme and GINGER!

First doctors appointment

First doctors appointment – (Originally blogged December 15th)

I have been here before, gone through all of this and I still feel really nervous about this appointment.  I guess because this time, unlike before, I had a little spotting (around 5 weeks) and it really scared me.  I called Angel Miller (friend, co-author, business partner) and asked her what I should do.  She said it was probably just implantation bleeding and that everything would probably be fine. At the first, “confirmation of pregnancy visit,” the midwife confirmed that everything looked great.  And, the blood tests – of course I was nervous for these – not sure why, I don’t drink, smoke, do drugs, but still any time someone says we are going to test your blood to see if something is wrong the natural worry wart in me comes out.  I remind myself again, I am happily married, workout all the time, eat healthy and take care of myself.  And of course, all initial tests showed the exact same thing…I am healthy and everything looks good for a healthy pregnancy.  My healthcare provider was extremely happy with my blood results and asked “What prenatal are you taking” – Max Muscle of course.  I was on the ground floor with the formulation of the product – it is gentle on a queasy mom’s stomach, you only need one pill per day and it packs in every nutrient a mom needs!  Don’t have a Max Muscle near you, order online – www.MaxMuscle.com More to come on supplements…they really have been a life saver for me!

It’s Official

It’s official…We are expecting baby number two, due late this summer!

I have been blogging, but wanted to wait until the 2nd Trimester to begin telling the world.  So hear goes the journey of baby #2! (Original Blog Date) December 7th

Early in the year I told my husband all I wanted for Christmas was to be pregnant and God and the Universe agreed!  This means they will be about 2 ½ years apart.  I have heard all the good and bad already about the distance between their ages…and you know what, I am going to take this one day at a time.  Sure Alex might not be potty trained, or in a big girl bed by the time the baby arrives, but that’s all right with me.  Every moment with Alex (yes, even when she is screaming or running away from me in a crowded grocery store) is a true gift.  I cherish every moment I have with her and look forward to our growing family!

With that said, I wish I was one of those who didn’t experience nausea right from week 2, but I am, and so I spent most of the Christmas and New Years Holiday feeling sick.  And, just like last time it is all the sweets, coffee and protein that set me off.  My anniversary was spent in the bathroom throwing up due to the fact that the Thai food I was craving turned out to be a not such a good idea.  I am hoping that like Alex I only have about 14 weeks of this!
