Erin’s postnatal testimony
Before I was pregnant I regularly went running and did light weightlifting for my lower body. During pregnancy Corry introduced me to “weight lifting” for the whole body. I did more weight training during pregnancy than before (just at low impact). I stayed active my whole pregnancy, yet I gained almost 70 pounds…probably due to the root beer in one hand and an ice cream in the other, as soon as I left the gym! I just kept telling myself, “I’m pregnant so I’ll eat what I want and lose it after the baby”.
After giving birth…I only pushed for 18 minutes…thanks to being in shape…I didn’t want to be that girl that just “said” I was going to lose the weight, I really wanted to do it. As soon as I got the ok from my doctor, Corry started me on a “more” nutritious diet (less root beer, less ice cream…some protein shakes) and a regular workout routine. I started out walking in the neighborhood, walking up and down the stairs and using my new baby daughter as weight…so we did it together. Once I felt comfortable going back to the gym at about 2 1/2 months postnatal I brought her with me. She loves all the action and attention at the Kid Zone and it gives me a little time for myself.
Five months after giving birth I lost all of my weight and the gym has become part of our daily routine that we both enjoy!
Today, I am still training with Corry to get my body into better shape than before I had Erika. When I look back at the past 6 months, I don’t think it was hard to lose the weight as long as I stuck with it. Corry helped me set small goals along the way, and one big goal…that I would lose the weight by January, and I did. My small goals: waiting to buy a pair of jeans until I lost 30 pounds and getting a new haircut after losing 40 pounds. My new goal is (now that I have lost all 70 pounds and my body fat is at 12%)…a NEW bathing suit.
Thanks Corry!
