8 Months Pregnant

I had my first baby in July 2005 and I wanted to get my body back.  My husband was overseas for OIF and would be returning home early January 2006 so I wanted to look good for him when he returned.  Not only did I want to look good for him but most importantly for myself.  I wanted to look and feel good and boost my confidence and self-esteem.  My sisters have not lost their weight after having kids, even after five years and I didn’t want that to happen to me since I am genetically predisposed to being overweight.  I didn’t want to be fat just because I had a baby.

In October 2005 I went to Gold’s Gym in Lake Ridge, VA and asked if there was a trainer who could help and mentor me three months postpartum.  That was when I met Corry.  I had bought 24 training sessions with her which I thought was enough time for me to get fit and get my body back.

She put me through exercises that helped strengthen my core.   My body was changing and I was seeing results.   I will always remember the walking/pumping/diagonal lunges workout.   They were absolutely grueling but I saw the results in my legs/buttocks and was well worth the effort.  Three months later I was 10 lbs under my pre-pregnancy weight.  I was ready for my husband to come home.

Fast forward 13 months later, I had given birth to my second baby!  This time I had gained more weight and I was hovering around 150.  I was so frustrated that I couldn’t get back into my old clothes.  It took me several weeks to contact Corry because I kept putting off going to the gym – I was lazy.  My husband saw that my confidence and my self-esteem had gone down because of my weight so he bought me six sessions with Corry to start off my weight loss regimen.

5 Months PostPartum

Since I had worked with Corry before I knew what to expect from her so she had designed me a workout program.  I was going to the gym five days a week.  I saw that my body was getting tighter and my muscles were looking more sculpted however I was not losing weight.  I know that muscle weighs more than fat but I wanted to lose pounds!  I mentioned my frustration to her and she customized a nutritional program for me.  It turns out that I was not eating enough protein and was taking in too much carbohydrates/salt/sugar.  Once Corry corrected my diet, I dropped five lbs in the first week in a half!  I was ecstatic. Since being on the diet now for just four weeks, I have lost 8 pounds, but more importantly I look great and got my confidence and self esteem back!
